Happy birthday!!!

I celebrated my birthday on October 19th 2005. As a gift to myself i purchased some Toronto Raptor tickets and it was a great opportunity to test out my camera and lenses within the Air Canada Center. It was also a bonus that they were playing the New Jersey Nets, another opportuntiy to boo Vince Carter:). I almost didn't get the pictures at all because in the main entrance they were checking bags and one of the guys said i couldn't use my camera which is a bunch of crap...but before i could even argue another staff member said it was fine.
It was a pretty good game, with the raptors winning in overtime. It was a great day and well worth the money spent. To continue celebrating i had plans to go to the Toronto Importfest 2005 the following Saturday...so my next blog will be about that. In the mean time, here are a few more pics. It's been awhile!!!

Well, it's definitely been too long since my last post, so i thought i'd show off my son, now 4 months old. The joys of being a father is defintely a great experience as Jarius grows each day. He's at the point where he's curious and learning about his surroundings and himself. He's now capable of rolling over onto his belly, he loves taking a bath(which is good) and he's learning about making different noises...laughs, giggles and screams. No matter what happens throughout the day, his face reminds me of what is important in life.

Water Fall

I've always loved the look of flowing water, it's peaceful, soothing and at times theraputic. I first attempted to get waterfall shots handheld and slowing the shutterspeed down to get that smooth water look. Well, they didn't turn out to good. So i finally got a tripod and went back to Edwards Gardens to try again and i was pleased with the results. In this picture i used a masking technique to add some colour to certain areas leaving the rocks black and white.

Siberian Tiger

Most of you know that I love Tigers. I finally got out to the Zoo and went straight to the Siberian Tigers. I must've spent an hour there taking numerous shots only to come out with a handful of shots that were to my liking. IT was quite the challenge as they were behind a hill and they kept moving around. Most of the waiting time was for the tiger to come around to our side to get a decent shot.

On the Web

Get it on the web....hahahaha...ah never mind.
This little critter is actually about half an inch long. I was fortunate that he didn't move around too much and settled down for me to get a good shot. I'm not sure what kind of spider he is but he's probably a very common one.

The Buzzz

These guys were everywhere. It wasn't very hard to get a shot, but i had to get pretty close. It's funny how fearless you become to get a good shot. After a few i think they got annoyed because they started to surround me. That was a sign for me to get going!

Flowers Power!!!
(Edwards Gardens, Toronto, Ontario)

It was the 27th of July when I got my first SLR camera as mentioned before. Excited and eager I headed over to a local park called "Edwards Gardens". Like a kid at a candy store I began to shoot the moment I got there. I shot every plant, flower, rock, bug...you name it, I shot it. It's too bad I really didn't know what I was doing, but some of them turned out pretty good. I found many flowers to capture, and although some were withered, they still made great pictures. I never thought that I would find joy in taking pictures of flowers..go figure. I first used only the basic settings to see if the camera was functioning as it should. It wasn't until that night when I read the manual and got familiar with the other creative /manual modes.

WELCOME!!!

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to visit my photo blog.

I've always loved photography since I first tried a "pinhole" camera along time ago. I've always loved all things creative whether it be drawing, writing, design and now photography.
In this blog I will share anything and everything pertaining my experiences, feelings and thoughts in regards to the images displayed. I recently purchased my first DSLR camera, a Canon Digital Rebel XT. IT came with an 18-55mm lens and I purchased aSigma 70-300mm APO MACRO DG zoom lens. I can already see that this will be an expensive hobby, but i wouldn't trade it for the joy and peace photography has given me.

I hope that you will enjoy the blog, the pictures and the words that I will share with you.
